Welcome new Trustee and Core Team Members

We keep on growing.....

What an brilliant day was had on Saturday 1st June. We received a warm welcome from David at Derby Deaf Centre to then hold our annual general meeting.

The morning was a time of Looking Back and giving thanks with current members and visitors joining in a time of reflecting on what Signs of God has been doing, some great success stories.  The afternoon was spent looking towards the Future, considering the way forward looking at areas of need, development and growth, prayerfully considering God's leading. The day was closed with various prayer stations for the people and work of Signs of God.

The Annual General Meeting saw one new Trustee being appointed and five people nominated to the Core Team.

Gill Behenna was nominated to become a Trustee and thankfully she accepted. As a founder of Signs of God, Gill saw the organisation move to being a registered charity, with trustees taking on the legal responsibility for Signs of God.  Although stepping down from the voluntary role of administrator two years ago, Gill has continued as an active Core Team member.  She will bring not only her commitment to Signs of God, but her wealth of experience of Christian ministry, interpreting, Deaf Church and other Deaf charities.

As mentioned we had FIVE nominations for Core Team Member and we are delighted to, in addition to welcoming Gill as Trustee also welcome the following people to the Core Team.

Paul Pryce-Jones - Paul has been a committed supporter and regularly attends events and volunteers for opportunities sent out via the Christian Interpreters’ Network. Paul is now a qualified interpreter, and he has previous experience working for other organisations in the voluntary sector.

Jan Munns - Jan has been an enthusiastic participant at Signs of God events for many years.  Jan is regularly involved with Deaf and Deafblind people in her local church and these skill will be an asset to the work of Signs of God.

Judy Scholes - Judy is an RSLI who has previously been involved with Signs of God events. She models Signs of God merchandise on the website. Judy has not been able to offer her time in recent years, but is now ready to get further involved, this time as a Core Team member.

Sarah Clarke -  Sarah was thrilled to be involved with delivering teaching at a workshop in 2017 and at Summer School 2018 and is excited to become more involved with Signs of God from now on. Her teaching skills, Deaf awareness and knowledge of deaf culture will be of great advantage to the work and development of Signs of God.

Liz Heyburn - Liz has been a keen and regular participant at workshops and Summer Schools for many years.  Liz is keen to become more involved and brings administration, H.R. legal and interpreting skills to the Core Team.

The Core Team now consists of an amazing 42 people each bring their various skills and gifts.

Welcome and thank you all very being willing to be used by God to serve in this way.

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:10-11
